Minimum & Maximum Session Length

Minimum length of session required changes according to commute time from central Osaka to the interpreting site (with exception of remote interpreting). If it is within 30 min commute, then sessions as brief as 30 mins. are also acceptable.

Once minimum session length has been reached, times are calculated in 30 mins. unit.

The maximum length of continuous active interpretation session on a day is 4 hours unless another interpreter is on site (i.e. two interpreters taking 20 to 30 mins. turns providing interpretation) OR, that the session does not require constant interpretation but includes or overlaps a long period of stand-by (such as factory visit, etc.).

Preparation & Information Beforehand

Basic content and background information will be requested beforehand to ensure the best language and communication results for your event. These may include but not limited to:

* Date, time, venue (location), size of event (audience and participants)
* Objectives and background (incl. recipients and audience)
* Industry and field (incl. level of technical knowledge required)
* Related materials or information on the event (e.g. meeting agenda, event outline, speech scripts, etc).

In some cases, prior meetings between the speaker (or organiser) and the interpreter are recommended to ensure that the objective could be achieved. These could be done in person or through internet or other interfaces, with the consent of the speaker and/or organiser in advance.

Subject Matter Expertise

Poor miscommunications can cause an otherwise productive meeting to go off the rails. A good command of the target language and subject matter expertise about the industry make a good interpreter. This means TBI may be at times unable to accept a case because it is not within its expertise (please click here for BRENDA CHEN's profile).  But it is through thorough preparation that makes a great interpreter who deliver the result. This is especially true to difficult negotiations or discussions (exchanges).

For estimates and quotes, please feel free to use the contact form -- if you have any queries or need to consult, please also do not hesitate to send TBI a message, either. Thank you for considering TBI to be your communication partner. I look forward to working with you, your colleagues and clients in near future.
